36 “You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet:
HOLINESS TO THE LORD. 37 And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban; it shall be on the front of the turban."
Your deepest, darkest thoughts condemn you. No one but you and God know what's really deep down there and even you don't fully recognize the depth of their depravity. Your self talk can all too often be so toxic and unproductive that you feel helpless even to act or change. One of my favorite sayings is, "If you had a friend who talked to you like you do, you'd get rid of them!!!
It isn't always really bad stuff with which we condemn ourselves, is it. Often it's thoughts like, "Gee, I didn't take time to read my Bible and pray this morning." Or maybe you got angry and yelled at your family and now you're at work having a miserable day feeling horribly guilty because you didn't control your temper. Perhaps someone made to feel guilty about something. During worship at church you had uncharitable thoughts about that lady with the heavy makeup. Whatever.
A myriad of thoughts, sometimes an avanlanche, can plague you as you go through the day.
But our AWESOME ABBA has once again made wonderful provision for us! Nowhere is it more clearly illustrated than in the linen turban of the high priest of ancient Israel. As long as Aaron wore that turban with the golden band on the front of it with the engraved words, "Kodesh LeYaweh," God looked upon Aaron's thoughts as pure and holy. His thoughts were representative of the whole nation, and as the high priest goes, so goes the nation.
Balaam told King Balak of Moab in Numbers 23:21, "He {God} has not OBSERVED iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel."
It doesn't record that there was no iniquity, it says "He {God} has not OBSERVED iniquity." God did not SEE it. He was looking at Aaron, the high priest, and seeing the golden plate on The front of his turban and counted it TO THEM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Today, our High Priest, Jesus, after the order of Melchizedek, WHO LIVES FOREVER, represents us to our Father. If Jesus' thoughts are pure--and of course they are...FOREVER--then OUR THOUGHTS ARE COUNTED PURE, TOO ; and to God, the thought is the deed.
All deeds, good and bad, begin with a thought; but God looks at Jesus to evaluate yours because you stand in the perfection of His Son.
HALLELUIA!
Because of Jesus, our thoughts are counted as Kodesh LeYaweh: {קֹ֖דֶשׁ לַֽיהוָֽה} Holiness unto the LORD!
