Fear Not

Fear And Fearless
[פחד/לאפחד]

John 14:27
27 "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

This is part of Jesus last will and testament to us:  Shalom: Peace.  He does not want us to be afraid or to live in fear.  But He always goes FAR beyond merely telling us about this; He shows us.
The Holy Spirit is always drawing beautiful word pictures to help us.

Here are some "drawings" of the word "fear" in Hebrew:

[פחד]
Pechad
Pei-chet-dalet

Hebrew reads from right to left and is a form of picture writing, like Chinese.  These pictures are very consistent.  There are 22 letters in all which tell a story you would never find in any definition.  They also give us a glimpse of things from God's point of view.

[פ] Pei=mouth
[ח] Chet or het=fence, pronounced like a gutteral "k."
[ד] Dalet=door

When you are afraid, what's the natural human response? Fence yourself off, sit down and withdraw, curl up in a ball? You are certainly not motivated to confess God's positive word, so "FEAR" to God means:

"You have "fenced off the 'door' of your mouth."

That is also what God says causes you to fear.  Fear is actually worship, which is why we don't want to fear anything or anyone except God!  Could that be the major reason the angels are always saying "Fear not," when they appear to people?  After all, didn't the angel in Revelation 22:9 admonish John not to worship him because they are fellow servants?  Yes.

"Fear-less," on the other hand looks like this:

[לאפחד]
Lopechad, literally "no fear."  Lo is "no" in Hebrew.

Two letters have been added. They are:
[ל] Lamed=learn; a picture of an ox goad
and...
[א] Aleph=ox, sacrifice, which refers to Jesus.
The picture story is:

When you "learn: lamed-[ל]" of Jesus and His "sacrifice-aleph [א], He gets in the midst of your fears and you become...

Lopechad
[לאפחד]
FEARLESS.

  1. I want to thank you for sharing the insight God has given you into the scriptures in the Hebrew language! I have started reading your entries from 2014 and enjoy them so much! My husband also reads them almost daily. I hope this is an encouragement to keep writing your blog, even if there isn't any comments made, someone is being blessed by them. Shalom
