Deuteronomy 33:16-17
“With the precious things of the earth and its fullness,
And the favor of Him who dwelt in the bush.
Let the blessing come ‘on the head of Joseph,
And on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.’
His glory is like a firstborn bull,
And his horns like the horns of the wild ox; (KJV: Unicorn)
Together with them
He shall push the peoples
To the ends of the earth;
They are the ten thousands of Ephraim,
And they are the thousands of Manasseh.”

Taurus, the ninth major constellation, is the opening scene of Act 3 of this three-act play in the night sky. In this star sing we see the figure of a raging bull, but only his front half of a raging bull. With head down, nostrils flared, he looks as if he is about to gore someone. The front of this unusual bull is the only part visible because Aries is covering the back portion. The tip of his right horn appears to be piercing the left heel of a neighboring constellation: Auriga, the Shepherd.
Unusual Bull.
This particular bull does not look like any with which you or I are familiar, but apparently it was well known in ancient times. This species was called a “Rheem, an auroch, or a unicorn.” No, not the kind with one horn; more like a giant ox, but very fierce, wild, and completely untamable. It was likely an ancestor of the oxen we know today.
Julius Caesar’s describes an animal such as this and claims he actually hunted it! Pretty brave considering how dangerous and unpredictable it was. It was so wild and fierce that no one was ever able to domesticate it, even if the creature was raised from infancy. Apparently, what the hunters of this creataure had to do was entice it into a pit and kill it while it was trapped. Displaying its horns was a sign of one’s prowess.
By all accounts, it was much like the modern ox only much larger, closer to the size an elephant! It possessed both great strength and great speed, and was afraid of nothing. Without warning or provocation, it would charge at anyone or anything, irregardless of the consequences.
Pictures In Scripture.
The opening scripture speaks of this creature. Moses is speaking prophetically over the tribe of Joseph, saying that “His glory is like a firstborn bull,
And his horns like the horns of the wild ox;”
And his horns like the horns of the wild ox;”
He goes on to say something else that is very enlightening:
“Together with them (the bull and wild ox)
He shall push the peoples
To the ends of the earth;
They are the ten thousands of Ephraim,
And they are the thousands of Manasseh.”

I see two things here: Ephraim and Manasseh are two of the tribes of Israel. Ephraim, the younger son of Joseph, received the first-born blessing from grandfather Jacob, if you recall. His name means “Fruitfulnesses.” (plural)
Manasseh means “To Forget.” He depicts those who don’t know their Messiah. That’s the Jewish people! After 70 A.D., they were scattered all over the globe. But The Lord gathered them and brought them back to their own land in 1948. Today, they are finding out in droves Who Jesus is!
As for Ephraim, from the Middle East to the whole world, the Gospel has gone around the globe. Like a powerful, relentless, mighty bull, He built the largest and most successful organization of all time: The Church of the Redeemed. Like an untamed bull or a wild ox, the gates of hell not only haven’t prevailed against her, she has mowed them down. That’s the power of Jesus!
Jesus Comes To Judge The World.
Last of all, this bull is a picture of Jesus coming to judge the world. With His raptured Church in tow, He will come with speed and strength like the wild ox. No one will be able to stand against Him and no one will escape.
Why does Aries appears to be “Riding” on the back of Taurus? Because either you’re Redeemed by the blood of the lamb and you are with Jesus, or you get run over by the unstoppable bull with razor sharp horns when He comes to judge the world.
It also depicts the Church (we are hid with Christ in God) riding on the back of the “Bull” when Jesus returns in His 2nd coming!
God (talking to Job) describes this creature in chapter 39, verses 9-12, below:
“Will the wild ox be willing to serve you?
Will he bed by your manger?
Can you bind the wild ox in the furrow with ropes?
Or will he plow the valleys behind you?
Will you trust him because his strength is great?
Or will you leave your labor to him?
Will you trust him to bring home your grain,
And gather it to your * threshing floor?
Will he bed by your manger?
Can you bind the wild ox in the furrow with ropes?

Obviously these are rhetorical questions. No doubt the answer to each and every one of those questions is an absolute, “NO!” Tangle with a creature like that at your own risk!
* “Threshing floor” is a reference to Judgment day, as mentioned in Matthew 3:12 and Luke 3:17.
David and the Prophet Isaiah both make mention of this animal.
Psalm 92:10
10 But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox;
I have been anointed with fresh oil.

“The wild oxen shall come down with them,
And the young bulls with the mighty bulls;
Their land shall be soaked with blood,
And their dust saturated with fatness.”
For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance,
The year of recompense for the cause of Zion.”

Day Of Vengeance.
Remember when Jesus went to Nazareth and read the Torah portion for the day? It “Happened’ to be a passage from Isaiah 61. But He didn’t read the whole thing; He purposely left off the last part of verse 2 which includes these words: “…..And the day of vengeance of our God;”
Sprinkled throughout the scriptures are warnings of a day of Judgment: Isa. 26:20–21, where God says He will punish the iniquity of the wicked; Isaiah 13 has references throughout. Psalm 45:5 speaks of treading down those that rise up against God; and of course, Jude 14-15 which tells us of Jesus returning to earth with ten thousands of His saints to judge the world.
Vengeance against all lawlessness has been held back for 2,000 years while the Gospel was sent out to the four corners of the globe. But all those who hated Israel, who persecuted and killed the Jewish people (Jesus’ natural family) will become the object of God’s wrath. The door of the sheepfold will have been shut, the Holy Spirit taken out of the world, and troubles like never before on planet earth will happen to those left behind after the rapture.
Ancient Names For The Sign.
God is so cool the way He orechestrates the movement of the stars! Did you know that when Taurus rises in the sky, Scorpio, a picture of the devil, disappears from view? How’s that for a visual of what will happen to satan when Jesus comes to judge the world? He’ll be destroyed!
This star sign was called, “Shur,” in Hebrew, which means “The Bull coming.” The root word from which it is derived includes the meanings of “Coming and ruling.”
The Syrians and Arabians both called him, “Al Thaur,” which means the same thing as the Hebrew word above. Both the Greek and Roman names for this sign means the “The Bull:” “Tauros” (Greek) and “Taurus,” (Latin.)
No surprise, the Egyptian names, and there are several, take us into new levels of meaning. One of their names for him was “Isis,” meaning “The One Who Saves Mightily.” They also called him, “Apis: The Head or Chief Who Comes.” Still another name was “Horias: The Traveller Who Comes to Save. Here’s another very descriptive name: “Statio Hori: The Station or Place of Horus—The One Who Comes to Save.”
This “Isis” does not refer to the “goddess” of the same name. She came much later. This word actually comes from the Hebrew language. It is a verb which means, “To save.” When you add the Egyptian masculine pronoun ‘s’ it changes to, “This One Saves.”
Ancient Names Of The Stars.
Located in the shoulder of this great and powerful bull is the tiny, seven-stared dipper-shaped constellation known as “The Pleiades,” or “The Seven sisters. Pleiades is the Arabic name for them which means the same thing as the Hebrew name, “Chima: The heap or the accumulation.”
The Syrians called this star cluster, “Succoth,” which means Booths,” as in “Feast of Booths.” The Hebrew name for this holiday is “Succoth.” It is the only one of the seven feasts of Israel that has not been prophetically fulfilled!
In Greek mythology, these seven stars were thought to be the seven daughters of Atlas. He was the one who purportedly held the world on his shoulder. His seven daughters were supposedly all turned into doves. That reminds us of the story of Noah and the great flood that destroyed everything living on the earth except Noah and the seven others that were with him.
What, or should I say, “Who,” do doves represent in biblical typology? The Holy Spirit, of course! What would seven doves depict? Sounds to me like the seven Churches of Asia. They are a representation of the kinds of Churches we have in existence today. But they also speak to different Church eras.
The Pleiades, being located on the shoulder of Taurus, is a picture of the Church upheld by Jesus, riding on His shoulder as He returns in great power and majesty to judge the world.
The Hyades is another cluster of stars located in the left eye of Taurus. This is a Hebrew name meaning, “The congregated.” Because its location is the eye of this celestial bull, it brings to mind what the prophet Zachariah said in chapter 2, verse 8:
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you (Israel) touches the apple of His eye.”
There is no doubt in my mind that these stars clustered around his eye is referring to Israel, the apple of God’s eye. Anyone; ANYONE, that has laid a hand on His Covenant people or mistreated them in any way, God has dealt harshly. Every nation that has come against her is either no longer around or has waned in power.
The message is clear: “HANDS OFF ISRAEL.” God blesses those that bless Israel but curses those that curse Israel. This raging bull with sharp horns is no joke. Either get on board or get run over.
Other Star Names.
Here are the ancient names of other stars that belong to Taurus, though their precise location is not known today:
Palilicum (Hebrew) which means, “Belonging to the Judge.” An Arabic name, “Al Thuraiya,” means “The Abundance.” The Arabs had another name for this one: “Wasat,” which means “The Center or the Foundation.” The Romans called it, “Vergiliae: The Center,” and the Arabs called it, “Vertex.” You see, at one time, they believed this star, wherever it is, was the center of the universe. It isn’t, but it was believed to be.
Aldebaran.
This prominent red giant, is often called, “The angry red eye of Taurus.” It is an Arabic name, “Al Debarn,” meaning “The Foremost,” or “Leading star,”because it precedes (or leads) the Pleiades. The root of the word, “Davar,” means “Word or speak,” in Hebrew. What does this Bull follow and what does He speak out? The word of God!
Just like the scripture says, “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.” Matthew 6:22. No one is more focused and a better follower of the word of God than Jesus!
The Denderah.
The Egyptian temple at Denderah pictures this star sign as the full body of a bull. They called it by names we have heard before with similar meanings: Isis (not the “goddess), which means “Him Who Saves or Delivers;” “Apis, meaning “The Head,” and finally, “Horias: The Traveler Who Comes to Save.”
What accuracy and details God placed in the stars long ago so that man would be able to know the One Who would come to save the world, 2500 years before His word was written down.
