Hydra, The Serpent: Mazzaroth Series Part 42

Revelation 12:7-9
“…war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Hydra is the first decan beloninging to Leo.  He is another represention of the enemy which has plagued mankind practically the dawn of time.
The Serpent.
This star sign is pictured as a long winding serpent.  It is so long, it covers fully one third of this narrative in the night sky.  Why 1/3? That is a picture of the devil being cast down from heaven with 1/3 of the angels that sided with him. They became the demons that do his bidding.
This twisting, serpentine creature has one coil near its neck.  Near the center of it is a raven pecking at it (creepy) and there appears to be a large, two-handled cup sitting on it.
We saw in Leo that the Lion was springing up as if about to pounce on an enemy.  This long, undulating serpent is that enemy who is about to have his head crushed by the Lion’s powerful front paws.  HALLELUJAH! At last, instead of the devil chasing after us, he is fleeing for his life!
The closer and more inevitable his end, the more evil he tries to pour out on mankind, hence the escalation of bad things happening on earth.  You see, because the Holy Spirit is no longer holding him back, evil can run amok, unrestrained.
But at last what was written long ago by the Psalmist, “David,” in Psalm 110:1,
“The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
Using one’s enemy as a public footstool was both the ultimate insult and the premier declaration of their utter defeat.  That’s the devil’s fate:  Total defeat!
Mythology.
Hydra was understood in mythology to be the “Mother” of all evil, initially.  Later on, “Her” name was changed to “Hydrus,” a male name, though it retained its evil nature.  Thereafter it was known as “The father of lies.” Sound familiar?  It should!  That is the very same way Jesus describes the devil in John 8:44, below:
(Jesus addressing the Pharisees) “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

Here’s another very telling description: The Ancient Persians, known as “Iraq today, called this constellation, “The serpent of Eve!”  Thankfully, though, that old serpent at this point in our story is on his way OUT, OUT, OUT!!!  And good riddance!!  Jesus has him on the run, though there is NO WAY he can escape his fate.  He sealed it long ago when he decided he wanted to be God.
Ancient Names For The Sign.
Every culture on the  planet pretty much seems to call this constellation by its Hebrew name:  Hydra.  It means, “The Abhorred.”
Well that’s for sure!  There is nothing and no one as despicable, deceitful, and diabolical as satan.  He has been a thorn in everyone’s side since the dawn of time.  It’s about time he’s destroyed!

Ancient Names Of The Stars.
Located just behind the coil of the serpent’s neck is the brightest star, known as “Cor Hydrae,” a Latin word meaning, “Heart of the serpent.”  Directly underneath you’ll notice another name in Arabic: “Al Phard,” which means, “The separated or the Excluded, The put out of the way.”
Those are a lot more descriptive of this evil creature, aren’t they?  The devil certainly is excluded from the blessings of God, separated from Him for all eternity.  That frightening, but very real, place you hear about from time to time; you know, “Hell,” was specifically made for him and his band of renegade angels (demons).  Jesus will at last put him out of the way, never to steal, kill or destroy ever again.
That is the only ancient-named star whose position we know.  But there are two other Arabic-named star names that have passed down to us, not that knowing their postitons changes their message.  They are:  Al Drinan:  The Abhorred,” and “Minchir al Sugia: The piercing, punishing, or tearing to shreds of the deciever.”  Again, apt descriptions!
Let’s check with Egypt, shall we?

The Denderah.
This most ancient of planispheres seems to be in agreement, though their figures are quite different.
The Egyptians also saw this sign as a serpent but with an important difference:  The Lion has one of his feet squarely on the snake’s head!  In hieroglyphics underneath is the name, “Knem,” which means, “He Who triumphs or conquers.”  Interestingly, “King” and “Khan” are derived from this word.  Khan means “Fixed or established.”
Hallelujah!  The Lion-King has triumphed and conquered over the serpent, having trampled him under His foot!
There is more in store for this abominable creature in the next decan:  “Crater, the Cup.”  Even the name sounds ominous!  You may follow the link below to read all about it:
