"Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. 

Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” 

AND ADAM CALLED HIS WIFE'S NAME EVE, because she was the mother of all living."

Why did the Holy Spirit make a point of mentioning that "Adam gave his wife the name Eve?"  Because EVERYTHING He does has purpose, even this little short sentence, believe it or not.

There are so many hidden secrets in the names of people, places and things in Hebrew.  VERY interesting things that are beneficial to us, which is why they are recorded.

But first, a little background....

Hebrew reads from right to left.  Their aleph-bet contains 22 letters and each is a picture of something, like Chinese.  There is also a number associated with each letter as well as a musical note and a color!  Cool!

Below is the Hebrew spelling for Adam:

{אדם}

Aleph dalet mem

{א} Aleph=ox, sacrifice (Jesus); it can also mean "leader."
{ד} Dalet=door
{ם} Mem=water flowing, a picture of the Holy Spirit.

Adam was created by God. His name literally means "red-blooded man."  In Israel today, in fact, the word for blood is "dam,"  part of "A-dam's" name.

The word "pictures" tell a story:
"the leader opens the door to the spirit."  

Adam, unfortunately, opened the wrong door to an outlaw spirit, the devil, instead of to the Holy Spirit, ate of the forbidden tree, and rest is history.

If you are in a pastoral or leadership position you are the "A-dam" for your congregation or fellowship; you are the "leader who opens the door to the Spirit." Big responsibility!  

Be sure you don't open the door to the wrong spirit and teach false doctrines to your flock, like mixing law with the REAL gospel:  GRACE.

Mixing law with grace, also known as Galatianism, isn't only not teacing the Ten Commandments outright.  A "law" can be made out of anything when we say, "you should do this or you should do that."  Our job is not to "should or shouldn't" others but to point them to Jesus.  

ONLY BY BEHOLDING JESUS CAN WE BE TRANSFORMED."  If they come to church and only hear a bunch of do's and don'ts but do not see Jesus, the Holy Spirit has no raw material with which to work.  Our people CANNOT be transformed.

Adam knew the power of words.  He knew that God had created the world by speaking it into existence.  He personally had also just named every living creature on the earth.  

Here, recorded in Gen. 5:2, is what God had just done:  

"2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called "THEIR NAME ADAM", in the day when they were created."

No, God didn't just put a new verse in there; your eyes are not deceiving you.  They were BOTH called "Adam" by God.

But wait, isn't Adam's wife named Eve?  
YES! 
So how did she get the name "Eve?  
Adam gave it to her!

Why?  Because he loved her very much.  After the fall, he knew they were both under the curse and would one day die.  He wanted her to live, so he named her "Eve," in Hebrew, "Havah," which means "living."  She became the mother of all the "LIVING."  He literally spoke life to her!

This is a model of how God wants us to speak to our spouses and all the people in our lives.  

Speak life, health, prosperity, blessing into their lives.  Edify, encourage and strengthen people, not tear them down,  ESPECIALLY other believers.

He wants us to be a part of the Construction Brigade!

You Have Left Your First Love

Revelation 2:1-7

“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,

‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR FIRST LOVE."  

Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ’

Jesus through John, His Jewish secretary, wrote seven different letters to the "ANGELS" of seven different churches.  To the ANGEL of the Church at Ephesus he wrote the above letter.  

Who is "the ANGEL" of this Church?  Angel in Greek, is the word, "Ángelos."  It can mean angle like an angel from heaven, but it simply means, "messenger."  Who is the "messenger" for each of these Churches?  The senior pastor.  These letters are not written to the rank and file; they are directed at the senior pastors of the Churches to encourage, admonishe and correct some wrong doctrines which were found in five of them.  The only two pastors who were not corrected were the ones at Smyrna and Philadelphia.

In the case of Ephesus, they had, as Jesus said, "left their first love."  What did He mean by that?  Was He saying that they needed to put God first and to love Him more, as most of us have heard preached AT US all of our lives?  Surprisingly, NO.

For some reason, man always feels the need to twist everything around to make it all about man, as if there's anything we can add to what Jesus has already done.  HELLO!!!  His work is FINISHED!  Jesus wasn't telling them they need to love Him more.  THEY FORGOT HE LOVED THEM FIRST."  That is what He meant by "FIRST LOVE."

He used to describe the Chuch this way:

I Thessalonians 1:3 "...remembering without ceasing your WORK OF FAITH, LABOR OF LOVE, AND PATIENCE OF HOPE in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father...."

Notice the words He left out of the verse in Revelation?  FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE.  Their works lacked faith; their labor lacked love and their patience lacked hope.  What He wanted that pastor to do was to turn once again and focus on The One Who "FIRST LOVED" him and teach it to his Church.  Then faith, hope and love would once again be found in their works, labor and patience!  These things become a "fruit" of being rooted and grounded in His love as opposed to a dead "work."

The spotlight isn't shining on you and me or on what we are doing or not doing.  Preachers are POINTING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION.

Under the Old Covenant you were commanded to "love the LORD you God with all your heart, with all your and soul and with all your mind."  But has anybody done that!  Big fat NO!  We try only to fail MISERABLY!  So God took us OUT of he equation.

This is love under the new covenant:

I John 4:10
"In this is love, NOT that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to  be the propitiation for our sins."

You saw how God used to describe the Church in 1 Thessalonians 1:3 "...remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father". WHO first loved us?   JESUS! not the other way around.  Full consciousness of that one fact is what activates (energizes) faith, which comes by hearing--which causes  miracles to take place.  Focus on that!

Galatians 5:6
"For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but FAITH WHICH WORKETH BY LOVE."

The word for "worketh" above is the Greek word " energéo," from which we get the word  "energy."  Focusing on Jesus' love FOR us "ENERGIZES" the faith that creats miracles!  Want your faith to grow and energize miracles?  Focus on the love of Jesus FOR you!

How can we love God?  We love Him because HE FIRST LOVED US.  Jesus:  He is our FIRST LOVE.

As It Was In The Days Of Noah: Flood Series Part 7 of 8

Jude 1:5-7 

"5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 

6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in EVERLASTING CHAINS UNDER DARKNESS FOR THE JUDGMENT OF THE GREAT DAY;  

7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to SEXUAL IMMORALITY and gone after STRANGE FLESH, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

The passage above describes some of what happened to the principal trouble makers in Noah's time while the passage below alludes to what they were doing.  I say "alludes to" because you really don't get a very detailed picture in English.  The Hebrew text, however, tells a different story.

In the last days the world is going to be quite similar to the way it was just before the Flood with some important differences.  That's why the Bible says that these days will be "AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH," meaning it won't be a re-enactment where demons are producing actual offspring with human women.  

There will be some distinct similarities, particularly wide-spread wickedness, evil on a rampage, rampant immorality and so on.

We saw that the devil knew of the One who was coming to destroy him because, right after man fell, God said that He would put "enmity" between his seed and the "seed of the woman."  But "Seed" does not come from woman; it comes from man.  In so saying God foretold the Virgin birth:  The Promise of all Promises!  He was going to send The Champion, Jesus, to buy back what man had lost.     

So, the devil knew that God would send Someone Who will crush his head.  But he doesn't want his head crushed.  That's why his #1 mission from that point on was to STOP THE SEED OF THE WOMAN.  This explains why the devil hates women so much.  But it also reveals that the devil isn't all knowing.  He didn't know Who was coming or when which is why he tried everything he could think of to prevent The Champion's birth. 

When he saw that God was pleased with Abel's offering but not with Cain's he instigated Cain to kill his brother.  He figured the Champion was Abel. Nope.  Wasn't him.  

So he came up with his most disgusting plan:

The Nephilim.
 

Genesis 6:1 

"Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the 'sons of God' saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose...."

These "daughters of men," human women born of human parents.  But the "sons of God" mentioned here were fallen angels who took on human form and had sex them, creating half-human, half-demon hybrids.  Horrible creatures of all descriptions.  Again, refer to part one for more details.  

They were called "sons of God" because they DIRECTLY created by Him is a "son" of God, like Adam.  Jesus, though called "Son" is NOT a creation but "begotten."  He is THE ONLY BEGOTTEN, born of God.  Likewise, believers are "born" into the family of God  when we receive Jesus as Savior and are born again.  We are sons the same way Jesus is Son.

In verse 4 that "There were giants on the earth in those days, AND ALSO AFTERWARD---meaning after the flood---when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown."

These abominations were mighty in size, strength and, above all, WICKEDNESS!  They were called the NEPHILIM before the flood; ANAKIM AND REPHAIM afterward, fathered by those same fallen angels who had taken human form before the flood.  You can tell they were fallen angels in part from the passage above but the word Nephilim itself comes from the Hebrew root word, "naphal," which means "fallen."  

 

The devil and his crew carried out their heinous plan in order to pollute the human race to stop the birth of God's Champion.  God could not allow it to be carried out to it's evil conclusion.  That's why He sent the flood.  Otherwise, there would be no human race left! 

God Destroys All Life.

"Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”  Genesis 6:1-7

Since the devil is not all-knowing, cannot read your mind and didn't have a scorecard to tell the players he did lots of other things, like inventing astrology.  Why astrology?  Because the Gospel story of the promised Messiah was WRITTEN ALL OVER THE NIGHT SKY. 

 You see, for 2500 years, there was no written word.  God wrote the Gospel Story in the night sky.  The 48 constellations tell the whole AMAZING story of Redemption!  That's how the gospel was preached to generations of people.  The tower of Babel was constructed, orchestrated by satan, toward the end of distorting and confusing the story.

Later on the devil had Pharoah kill all the Hebrew babies of Moses' day.  

When Jesus was 2 years old, the ol' liar instigated his buddy, Herod, to kill all the babies 2 years old and younger.  The wise men who came from the East to inquire of the king gave him a clue that something BIG was up.  But he didn't know which baby it was.  As I said, he's not all knowing. All this to STOP THE SEED OF THE WOMAN:  JESUS!

Before the flood, people lived a lo-o-ong time!  Adam was 930 years old when he died and Noah was 950!  The longest living man was Methusela at 969 years of age.  Just before the flood, after all those hundreds of years, the outbreak of Nephilim was so widespread that the pollution of the human race was almost complete. 

Just think of it:  Those half-breeds lived hundreds of years, their thoughts and intentions of their hearts only evil continually, as it tells us in Genesis 6. Well, they sure devised A WHOLE LOT OF EVIL!  Hard to imagine.
 

Satan's plan almost worked, too.....except for one little detail:  ".....Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord."

Noah was a just man who loved God.  He and his family did not dabble with demons.  He was a preacher of righteousness who tried to tell his contemporaries not to get mixed up with these fallen angels; to repent and turn to God.   The very next verse might not seem like much and, truthfully, in English, it really doesn't tell us anything.  But in Hebrew, you really get the picture.

"9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, PERFECT in his generations. Noah walked with God.  10 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth."

The word, "PERFECT," in Hebrew is "TAMIM."  This is the same word as the one used to refer to the lamb one brought to the priest.  It means PHYSICALLY, not spiritually, perfect.  

NOAH AND THE OTHER SEVEN MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY WERE THE ONLY FULLY HUMAN SPECIMENS LEFT ON PLANET EARTH!

 

Will The Nephilim Return?   

There is a lot of talk in these end times about the return of the Nephilim, probably because of this scripture:  "And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:"(Luke 17:26 NKJV)

Whatever the modern-day outbreak of the Nephillim will be, it won't be fallen angels taking human form and impregnating human women.  It will be "AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH," in other words, "SIMILAR" to that outbreak. 

The common denominator of both outbreaks--one before the flood; one after--involved a going after "strange flesh," perverse sexuality of all kinds.  You can read a full description in Romans chapter 1.

The other outbreak of demonic half-breeds AFTER the flood were the "people" inhabiting the land of Canaan.  When Joshua and the children of Israel entered the land, giants were already living there.  Remember when Moses sent in the twelve spies?  They reported back that there were "giants in the land." 

You see, the devil knew that God had promised Noah He would NEVER, ever again send another flood to destroy all mankind.  So he thought to himself, "Hmmm...I have another chance to pollute the human race!"  So he had his buddies pull the same stunt again.  Goliath was one of these half-human creatures.  
The devil also knew the land of Canaan was a piece of real estate that was of special interest to God.  That's why he put his "people/hybrids" in place.

But don't worry.  You won't be seeing any horrible, half-human/half-demon creatures walking around in your town.  God put a stop to that.  How can we be assured of that?  He did two things:  #1- He locked up the fallen angels that did not keep their place, as documented in the opening scripture; in other words, the ones who took on human form and fathered these abominations, and.....

#2- He raised up the nation of Israel to eradicate the post-diluvian outbreak, the Anakim and Refaim.  

Didn't you ever wonder why God told Joshua to have the Israelites kill every man, woman and child when they entered the Promised land and conquered the cities of Canaan?  It always seemed reallt cruel until I realized He wanted them to wipe out every trace of demon DNA. Otherwise, the human race could be taken over.....again!  YIKES!!!

I'm so glad the devil and his minions aren't going to be pulling the same stunt again!  What, and risk being judged early and sent to hell early like their predecessors?  NO WAY. They know all too well that time will come soon enough and they're in no rush, believe me.  Mimic their behavior, yes--but take on human form, NO. 

As distasteful as it may be to discuss, there are people who sexually dabble with demon spirits, both men and women.  The incubus is the male form; succubus the female.  "Strange flesh," as I said, is described in great detail in the first chapter of the book of  Romans. Fortunately for us, no offspring can result from either type of union.  

This kind of thing is happening today, which means the rapture is VERY NEAR and the second coming not too long after that.   

So my question is, since the devil very obviously failed to stop the seed of the woman, why is he still coming after Israel?   Because he's trying to keep prophecy from coming true so that the SECOND COMING CANNOT HAPPEN.  

Well Church, he will never stop trying until he's hurled headlong into the pit of hell, I guess.  I suppose, because his HEAD WAS CRUSHED, he can't figure out he's ALREADY LOST!

So you see, we really are living in the last days spoken of in the scriptures:  AS IT WAS in the days of Noah.....

 

.....SO WILL IT ALSO BE IN THE DAYS OF THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN."

Why We Pray

"The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’s; But the earth He has given to the children of men." Psalms 115:16

Why is the world in such a mess, so full of evil people and calamities if God is good?  After all, He's the all-knowing, all powerful, omnipresent One isn't He?  What's going on? 

The answer is in the verse above:  

GOD IS NOT IN COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE EARTH.

WHAT???  How? Why?  When?  In order to understand the full story, we have to go back to where it all began:  In the garden.

In the beginning God created everything and He said of His creation that it was "good." But of man, whom He created last, He said it was "VERY GOOD."  Even though everything He created was good, He discovered that man had need of something, or rather someone, else.  So He created woman.  

Back then, God was fully in charge.  Everything was perfect.  There was no sickness, no disease, no need of hospitals, weapons or wars.  There was no death.

Then God set the man and woman in the garden and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and SUBDUE IT; HAVE DOMINION over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:27-28 NKJV)

Basically, HE HANDED OVER "THE KEYS" to man.

There was only one law back then:  

Genesis 2:15-17 

"Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil YOU SHALL NOT EAT, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Everything was going well until one day when the serpent came along.  The woman, influenced by the snake, ate from the forbidden tree.  She influenced the man, Adam, who was standing right there next to her, to eat from the tree, which he did.  As a result man fell.  You see, he knew better.  He was there when God said he could "FREELY EAT" from every tree in the garden.....except this one.  Did
he stop his wife or correct her?  No.  In effect, he bowed His knee to that outlaw spirit--satan--committed high treason and handed over "THE KEYS" to the devil.  Consequently, God had to drive them out of the garden and place His two Cherubim, guardians of God's holiness, at the entrance, guarding the way to the tree of Life. 

Because God had given man dominion over the earth, He couldn't just come in and take over.  Now 

He had to find a way to intervene in the affairs of men LEGALLY.  You see, unlike us, when God 

gives a gift, IT IS GIVEN. He doesn't just come and take it back because you've misused it. 

NOPE.  It is yours.....consequences and all. 

Fortunately for us it was only a temporary lease which will soon be up.  UN-fortunately, that means the earth is still a fallen earth.

6,000 or so years later, the "lease" is still in our name. Because it was a "MAN" who forfeited the keys, it must be another MAN--JESUS--to get them back.  

Until the time that Jesus arrived on the scene, God had to find a man, or men, who would agree or covenant with Him in order for Him to act on that man's behalf.  Though God cannot, because of the terms of the lease, intervene whenever He wants, as much as He might like to, "WHOSOEVER" invites Him to be Sovereign over their affairs has now given Him LEGAL PRECEDENCE to intervene on behalf of those in covenant with Him.

"Is God Sovereign over anything in this world?" you ask.  YES:  He is Sovereign over HIS KINGDOM and the PEOPLE IN HIS KINGDOM.  He has two groups of covenant people in the earth:  Israel and the Church.  We enjoy the full covenant because of Jesus.  Our Jewish brethren have only a partial Covenent because they rejected their Messiah.  But in these last days, more and more are meeting their Redeemer than at any other time in history, praise God!  Their blindness is being lifted!  

HOWEVER.....those IN His kingdom, meaning the Church, who don't want to follow Him ARE STILL ON THEIR OWN, almost as if they had no covenant, though God never leaves us or forsakes us.  The only difference is where they go when they die:  Heaven!  But here on earth these folks will be affected by the curse--like sicknesses, diseases, lack and so on--like those who have NO covenant.

Thank God the second Adam came: JESUS!  He paid for our redemption "having wiped out the handwriting of requirements {The Ten Commandments} that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, HAVING NAILED IT TO THE CROSS." Colossians 2:14

That's right:  JESUS NAILED THE LAW TO THE CROSS.  Now He has the keys!  He crushed satan's head and reversed EVERY CURSE! 

Here's a little something extra.  Remember what happened the morning Jesus rose from the dead?   Mary Magdalene was the first to see the Risen Glorified Jesus.  But earlier, she along with Mary, the mother of James, and Salome, came to the tomb, saw the stone rolled away, the EMPTY TOMB and the angels.  These are the same TWO ANGELS--Cherubim--who guarded the way to the tree of Life and sat atop the mercy seat of the Ark of the covenant.  

Notice, JESUS Himself invited a woman to bring back word to the other disciples of the revelation that the way to God--The Tree of Life--is now OPEN!  

The two angels that Mary saw at the head and the foot of the place where Jesus' body lay are a picture of the Real Mercy Seat in heaven!  Our High Priest is both the Offer-Er and the Offering!

Remember, it was a woman who, influenced by the snake in the garden, who influenced man to sin and, therefore, cause the entire human race to fall.  We are complicit with man, though it is credited to Adam as head of his household.  

But it was also through a woman that The God/Man--Jesus--was born Who could restore us.

It was a woman to whom the truth was first revealed.....and it was a woman who first told men of Jesus' triumph and resurrection!  Appearing to a woman first was God’s way of restoring womankind.  RESTORATION!!!  Jesus honored and elevated women!

Make no mistake, however; the devil still has limited power and lying wonders.  Though he may be bound, he isn't gagged...and he has a BIG mouth.  That's why we still hear those evil little whisperings in our ears at times. 

If you remember nothing else, remember this:  Anyone who has not chosen to come under God's protection is fair game for the devil and his minions, like shooting fish in a barrel! 

I reiterate:  Unless you belong to Christ, YOU ARE SUBJECT TO HIS ATTACK AT HIS WHIM.  He can pick your number ANYTIME.

Why else do you think Christians talk about being under Jesus' protection?  BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO BE UNDER HIS DOMINION.   You shouldn't either.  Humans are NO MATCH for the devil.  That's why we "SAY" of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,  My God.  In Him will I trust."  We SPEAK IT OUT.  WE DECLARE IT.....DAILY.....HOURLY.....minute by minute if necessary. 

In order for God to come into our lives and situations, we must first have a covenant with Him--be born again--and we must "ASK."  THAT'S WHY WE PRAY.  

It isn't simply a futile exercise engaged in by timid, frightened weak-minded people.  NO.  Far from it.  

PRAY IS A COVENANT TRANSACTION BETWEEN US AND OUR COVENANT ABBA!

Covenants, in ancient Israel and in other cultures around the world are "cut" with another person, tribe or nation. Unlike a paper contract which can easily be broken, there is always a SHEDDING OF BLOOD to seal it.  Each person or tribal head made a small incision on their wrist, joined them together and mingled their blood. Now it flows as one.  It is binding, irrevocable and until death.

This is why marriage is a covenant and not merely a contract.

In the process of cutting a covenant, each took off their respective outer garments and exchanged them, indicating a change of positions. Each took off their respective armaments as well and wore the other persons gear. Your enemies have now become their enemies; their enemies, yours. You each now fought mutual battles of your now mutual enemies.  Jonathan and David made such a pact.

One day the lease will revert to God Who gave it.  Jesus will reign over the whole world from Jerusalem, establishing His millennial Kingdom.  The earth.....HALLELUIA.....will be totally under God's control at long last and everything will be PERFECT.  

Until then we want it to be as close as possible to the way it was when He was fully in charge in the garden.
