1 Corinthians 15:20-22
“But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
After all the sorrow and sadness of what our Jesus suffered, now we come to Delphinus, the Dolphin. In this, the final decan of Capricorn, we have a celebration of the life that came out of death! HALLELUJAH!
In Capricorn, we saw that Jesus death, depicted by the young goat offered as a sacrifice for sins, was coupled with the tail end of a fish, depicting the Church. The other two decans, Sagitta and Aquila, dealt with the arrow of God’s judgment that brought about the death of Aquila, the Eagle falling down in death.
The Dolphin.
In this constellation there is not even a hint of death. Unlike the goat fish which was coupled with death, Delphinus is a healthy, lively sea animal springing up in a joyful, triumphant, celebration of life!
Think of it as the reborn, fully formed fish portion of Capricorn, the goat fish. It is a perfect picture of resurrection; of life out of death! This is emphasized in that the tail of Capricorn is exactly like the tail of the Dolphin!
That’s what baptism symbolizes. We are identifying with Jesus in His death and resurrection.
1 Peter 3:18 declares, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit…” The innocent Lamb of God gave His life for the guilty ones, US!
When we come to Christ, we are baptised into His death and are raised to newness of life in Him as it says in Romans 6:3-4
“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
So, in the Dolphin we see a pre-enactment of what Jesus would do for all mankind. He would go down briefly into death, conquer it, and be raised to newness of life, giving birth to many sons and daughters in the process.
The Seed which fell into the ground and died yielded many “Little Christs,” or Christians, all over the world from every tribe, every nation, and every tongue!

Ancient Names For The Sign.
No other ancient name has been passed down to us other than Delphinus. Later on, when we look at Denderah, we will see its most ancient form and name. As usual, their take on things is far different yet just as illuminating.
Anicient Names Of The Stars.
Once again, the names of the stars advance the theme of this segment of the story. Though their names have been preserved, their exact positions are not known to modern astronomers.
In Hebrew, the name of one star is “Dalaph,” which means, “The pouring out of water.” It reminds us of the scripture in Isaiah 44:3. which says,
“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;”
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;”
Four other star names have been preserved and have similar meaning. The Arabian name for the same star is exactly the same as the Hebrew one: Dalaph. It means, “Coming quickly.” “Scalooin,” also Arabic, means “Swift,” as in the flowing of water.
Finally, Rotaneb and Rotaneu from Syrian and Chaldean languages respectively, mean, “Swiftly running,” as in water running in a trough.
The idea here is of water being swiftly poured out resulting in and facilitating the birth of many other fish creatures, i.e. the Church!
The Denderah.
Last of all, let’s look at the Denderah. The Egyptians called this sign, “Khau,” which means “The Longed For, a Multitude, Fish, or Hoped For.” The multitude of fish hoped for is us, Church! We are the ones Jesus died for! We are the ones to whom He gave eternal life! We are the “Fish of the sea (the nations)” that are called by His Name!
After, in biblical typology, is a picture of the Word of God. Believers, you and I, are born of water, “The word of God.” We are daily sustained drinking from the fountain of His word, which is the water of life. We cannot live without it!
Water also washes the dust of this life off our feet as we walk through this wilderness and gives refreshment to the weary traveler. It has the effect of welling up inside us and pouring out to refresh others as well!
