Judges 6
36 So Gideon said to God, “If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said—37 look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is *DEW ON THE FLEECE ONLY,*and it is *DRY ON ALL THE GROUND*, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said.”
38 And it was so. When he rose early the next morning and squeezed the fleece together, he wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowlful of water.
39 Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me, but let me speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more with the fleece; let it now be *DRY ONLY ON THE FLEECE,* but *ON ALL THE GROUND* let there be dew.'
40 And God did so that night. It was dry on the fleece only, but there was dew on all the ground."
This part of his story is recorded in Judges 6. Take particular notice of the bold and capitalized phrases.
His first request was:
#1. Dew on the fleece, ground dry.
#2. Then fleece dry, ground wet with dew.
Q: From what animal does fleece come?
A: Sheep!
A: Sheep!
The Holy Spirit is at it again, drawing us a beautiful picture of Jesus, The Lamb of God!
Before Jesus came to earth, the whole world was dry, thirsting for Living Water. All of that Living water was contained in the body of our Savior. The day He died on the cross, when the Roman soldier pierced His side, out flowed blood and water from "The Fleece," Jesus!

The Living Water which Jesus came to bring gushed forth to quench the thirst of the whole world.
Oh yes; and one more thing. Remember how God pared down Gideon's army down to 300 men? 300, in Bible numerics, means "VICTORY!"
Jesus gained total and complete victory over all the forces of evil by His death on the cross! HALLELUJAH!!!
...and that's the REAL meaning of Gideon's fleece.
I do not get that at all from this. As a matter of fact, Jesus is the shepherd, we are the sheep.

ReplyDeleteYou can apply this to that also. No harm is done here. It always makes the main passage clear. And lines up with the word of God
