Transfiguration

Mark 9:2-8
2"Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. 4 And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You,one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—6 because he did not know what to say, for they were greatly afraid.
7 And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” 8 Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves."

What an amazing sight it must have been!  Can you imagine seeing Jesus, His glory unveiled, conversing with Moses and Elijah, the two bigest icons of all Judaism!?  AWESOME!

Did you ever notice that Jesus brought only His inner circle with Him many times?  They were Peter, James and John.  This event was one of those instances:  The mount of transfiguration.  Why those three.?
Their names are always listed in that order when mentioned together by the Holy Spirit. This no accident!  Meanings in the Hebrew language of names, places and people that give the reader a deeper understanding of scripture.  Even numbers have meaning!

Secrets In The Hebrew.
Peter's name means "rock or stone."  Any time stones are mentioned in the Bible, they are most often a typology of the Law.  James' name means "replace or usurp." John means "grace."
The Holy Spirit is drawing pictures for us again!  "The Law has been replaced or USURPED--->by GRACE!"
Later on, these three would become apostles primarily to the Jewish people who had been under law for 1500 years, unlike the Gentiles who never were.  Their job would be to "roll away The Stone:  THE LAW, out of the lives of the Jewish people.

Jesus Ushers In The Age Of Grace.
Our very impetuous Peter, who always felt he had to say something, opened his mouth.....again.....and suggested they build three tabernacles: One for Moses, one for Elijah and one for Jesus. The nano-second he those words were out of his mouth, a bright cloud descended and overshadowed them and they heard the Father's voice saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”

Moses and Elijah, who were only SERVANTS of God, represented the Law and The Prophets, respectively. They had their day.  The law was soon to be replaced because Jesus, The SON of God, was bringing in the age of Grace, USURPING the Ten Commandments with the New Covenant secured by His precious blood.  We celebrate it every time we have Holy Communion.
(For more on the topic of the New Covenant, what are it's laws and where do you find them follow this link:  https://emmausroadministries.wordpress.com/2016/07/06/the-laws-of-the-new-covenant/)

The Father wanted them to understand they must now listen to and obey ONLY JESUS.
The law and the prophets had their day. That is now past.

Why No One Can Find Moses' Grave.
Do you know why no one to this day knows where Moses is buried.  This may come as a shock to you but contained in this passage is a BIG CLUE as to why no one to this day can find it.
You remember that God Himself buried him on the plains of Moab?  It is written that no one knows where his grave is to this day.  (See Deuteronomy 34:6)

Well, Church, there's a VERY GOOD REASON why no one can locate him or his grave:
HE ISNT IN IT.

WHAT??!
Yep.  It's true.  If you'd like to see how the scriptures corroborate this statement, below is a link to an in-depth article on this subject plus a detailed explanation as to why Moses was not allowed to go into the Promised Land with the rest of Israel.

Isn't God cool?!  He has hidden these wonderful nuggets in the scriptures just for us!  It is evidence upon evidence upon evidence that we are NOT under law.  WE ARE UNDER GRACE!
That doesn't mean we are "law-less," of course. Far from it!  We have the Holy Spirit inside to teach us.  That's a better deal!

And that's the story behind Jesus' transfiguration.
